Welcome on board

Wesertrainer is a project launched by pilots and aviation enthusiasts who really love their job or hobby. When you think of flying your thoughts and dreams soar when you catch a glimpse of the giant passenger jets: freedom above the clouds, encounters with cultures of foreign countries, the legendary east-west Atlantic crossing by the Bremen and last but not least the fascinating technological advances in aeronautics. Making your dream of flying come true means both having fun and demonstrating commitment while at the same time discovering a community of people who share your sense of excitement. Aviation is a community project. And we invite you to take a step towards making your dream of flying come true beyond your training sessions.

Experience aviation in Bremen

Bremen is one of the leading aerospace locations in Germany and an idea starting point with its tradition of far-reaching connections to any point of the globe. Aeronautics are omnipresent in Bremen. The VFW 614 commercial aircraft and the Columbus module for the ISS space station were developed and built here. Many aeronautics specialists and airline pilots have been trained in Bremen and global industry leaders have production and development facilities here.

The School

The flight instructors at our school are freelancers who really enjoy this opportunity to thrill and motivate learners in our training operations. Our home base and at the same time traing centre is Bremen Airport. We deploy two four-seater Cessna 172 type aircraft for flight training.

Your Pilot's License

The objective of training with us is to achieve your European private pilot's license, PPL-A, in line with the provisions of JAR-FCL 1, which entitles you to fly single engined land aircraft (SEP Land). JAR stands for Joint Aviation Regulations, a common set of regulations for 34 European aviation authorities. You will also typically take your restricted radio operator's license BZF I. This combination of qualifications entitles you to fly single-engined land planes registered in the EU in line with line-of-sight rules (Sichtflugregeln) in all airspace open to line-of-sight flights and to handle radio communications in English worldwide.

Our Training Concept

The pillars on which our training concept is built are those of teaching rock-solid skills and practical knowledge, giving you scope to gain experience, and standardisation and professionalisation of your handling and decision making processes. In order to achieve this, we go beyond the legal requirements and train you in the scope of flights to more distant destinations, including some in neighbouring European countries. One special aspect is our extended pre-flight briefing at least once per day of training. This is one of the most important interfaces between theory and practice and it has a decisive influence on the efficiency of the subsequent flight training while at the same time serving to prepare you mentally for the aviation tasks facing you. In this rapid and efficient briefing you will also learn how to gather all available information, ascertain its relevance for your intended flight and evaluate it safely. You will familarise yourself in-depth with ensuring flight safety until it becomes second nature to you. On top of this you will receive comprehensive, practical training for all of your training aircraft's technical systems such as the engine, avionics, controls, structure and cell.

Training Phases PPL-A JAR FCL

We divided the training into four phases, of which you can take phases 1a (theoretical training incl. radio license) and 1b (basic aviation training) in parallel. Theoretical training with Wesertrainer typically means a special distance learning course where you can work through the material autonomously and flexibly at your own pace and from the comfort of your own home, but with our support. This is followed by targeted preparation for the exam and your radio operator's license at our training centre. Phase 1 is concluded by the theoretical exam, passing your radio license test and your first solo flight. Phases 2-4 comprise the practical application of the knowledge of navigational and radio navigation methods that you learnt in the theory phase. You will learn and practice the correct response in special cases caused by e.g. navigational errors, approaches in poor weather conditions, or technical malfunctions through to simulated emergency or safety landings on suitable terrain. Following intensive training with your flight instructor, you will engage in extended, unaccompanied cross country flights. During phases 2 and 3 you can also fly to neighbouring countries in Europe. Phase 4 helps you build on your existing skills and practice for the practical exam with the assistance of your flight instructor. Practical training includes at least 45 hours of flying. You will be training exclusively with a four-seater Cessna 172. This means that when you finish your training you will have considerable flying experience with a popular plane in this class.

Cleared for take off!

The decision to start flight training and identifying the right training centre for your needs depend on your individual objectives, whether you intend to continue training at a school for commercial pilots to achieve a commercial license, use a private plane for business trips, or simply enjoy flying as a fascinating hobby. You can rely on us to support you in your decision, and of course you are welcome to visit us for a personal consultation, which your partner or parents are also welcome to attend. This gives us an opportunity to tell you more about the various training approaches and licenses and about your opportunities in aviation after completing the course. On top of this, we should be pleased to invite you to join us on a trial flight where you can actively experience the excitement of being a flight trainee. We should be pleased to send you our information package which is jam-packed with all the information you need about flight training with Wesertrainer, and which you can alternatively download from our website.
